Penda Smith

Penda Mbaye Z. Smith is a Senegalese American Cave Canem Fellow, writer, educator, and scholar whose work explores the role of pleasure in the ‘afterlife of slavery’ within family history, sexuality, coming of age, and girlhood. Her work has been featured in Huffington Post, Muzzle Magazine, Root Work Journal and more. When she is not writing, she is playing with her kittens or napping.
